Scott L. Johnston, PhD

Dr. Johnston is a native Californian and received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University. He is an APA Fellow and is board certified in both forensic and clinical psychology. A retired US Navy Captain, Dr. Johnston served for 30 years, holding a variety of high-level positions, including Carrier Psychologist, Presidential Support Psychologist, Director of the Naval Center for Combat & Operational Stress Control, Navy Psychology Specialty Leader, and Force Psychologist for Naval Special Warfare. His military career involved multiple deployments to the Middle East, Europe, and Cuba. Academically, Dr. Johnston has published extensively and lectured internationally on topics such as the treatment of combat-related PTSD, LGBT issues in the military, the integration of mental health services within the Department of Defense, and transitional support for returning service members. Dr. Johnston volunteers as Chairman of the Military Psychology Foundation and Scoutmaster of San Diego Boy Scout Troop 20.

Elizabeth K. Allen, PhD

Dr. Allen is a licensed clinical psychologist and consulting psychologist. She began her work in the field of psychology in the 1990s working with homeless youth in Santa Cruz County. She has worked with domestic violence perpetrators and ran a program treating parolees enrolled in the California Sexually Violent Predator Program. She treated active-duty Navy personnel including many First Responders and combat veterans at Naval Base San Diego. Dr. Allen has treated numerous First Responders over the course of her career, both active duty and civilians. Additionally, she has maintained a private practice and worked treating clients with diverse psychological needs. She has advanced training in traumatic stress studies, earning a certificate from The Trauma Research Foundation. For over a decade, she has guest lectured at Southwestern College Paramedic Program, including teaching responding to behavioral emergencies, abuse and assault, and self-care for First Responders.

Albert Oppedisano, PsyD

Albert Oppedisano, PsyD

Dr. Oppedisano is a forensic and consulting psychologist with expertise in assessing risk within judicially committed populations. His experience encompasses roles with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Board of Parole Hearings, and the California Department of State Hospitals. He was a member of the CDCR’s Crisis Response Negotiation Team and served as an instructor at the Negotiations Academy, where he trained professionals to handle critical incidents in correctional settings. Dr. Oppedisano’s expertise includes the conduct of Comprehensive Risk Assessment evaluations, which focus on the potential for future violence among long-term inmates, as well as assessments pertaining to Sexually Violent Predators and Offenders with a Mental Health Disorder. He also supervises consulting psychologists, applying innovative forensic principles to the assessment of mental disorders and violence risk. In addition to his practical experience, Dr. Oppedisano has served as an Adjunct Faculty at the School of Education, National University in La Jolla, California, where he has taught and mentored aspiring school psychologists.
